During Devon Open Studios, visitors are warmly invited into Leigh’s studio to see new paintings, works in progress, sketchbook ideas and completed pieces. It is a chance to step behind the finished work and discover how a painting begins, with a walk, a moment of attention, a colour, a memory or a feeling for place.

Leigh also hopes the work will help shine a light on the organisations and charities protecting Devon’s environment. This is art rooted in place, conservation and close observation, and an invitation to share in the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Lustleigh.

Selected from more than 600 submissions, A Day in May brings together paintings by more than 250 artists, creating an exceptional survey of landscape painting today and a compelling record of the places we value most.

Leigh’s Bark, Moss and Lichen painting was selected for the exhibition.
